Wow it has been forever since I have wrote something here. Hopefully there will be more.
First things first, SCHOOL SUX . I
thought that this year I would have it easy because I have 1 less
course to take. But no, its not, and it is going to get worse.
It was Thanksgiving this weekend and I wanted to go to Montreal so I
could hang out with my family and also Joseph, my litte brother! He
apparently went to Montreal and probably had a blast. I was here in
Ottawa just studying my ass off except for Sunday and 1 hour on Monday.
Clem, Lucie, Ben, Mei, Roger, Steve, Theresa and I celebrated
thanksgiving on Sunday instead of Monday. I bought a nice 6.5kg Turkey
to celebrate. How did we cook it? With lots of beer, I think maybe 3
bottles of beer. Even with 8 people, we couldn't finsh the turkey. I
think, at most, we finished 2/3s of the entire turkey. But it turned
out great and we had a great feast that was followed with board games.
Board games are soooooooooo fun, especially when there is a lot of
people. Too bad Sam (Wong) couldn't come. He didn't feel well. Even
after much convincing, he didn't come. Instead, he went to watch
Serenity.
Since Clem (my older brother) just moved into Ottawa for work here, we
had a house warming party at the same time as the Thanksgiving party.
So there was a lot of food with the turkey.
Today, the real Thanksgiving day, I did the same thing I do almost every other day, STUDY. .
But the cool thing was that I had promised to go with Sam to Karaoke
here in Ottawa. And yes, there is Karaoke here, but there is maybe at
most 2-3 of them. So I studied from 1-5pm today. After that, I told
Roger that I would go over to his apartment to study some more after
dinner and should expect me at around 7-7:30. When did I should up?
9pm. Instead, Sam and I went to go Karaoke at a small Karaoke place in
China town/block .
The rooms look alright and look like the ones in Vancouver, but there
was one huge difference, the HK Cantonese songs were all old and the
latest was probably 2003 songs. At $6.50 per person, it seemed very
overpriced and crappy. The songs were crappy, but the redeeming thing
came when we just started singing. One of the guys came in and asked us
if we wanted something to drink, Naturally, Sam and I said we didn't
want anything because we didn't want to pay for it. Turns out, you get
a free drink, which is pretty sweet because we weren't expecting
anything but crappy service.
Sam also seems to always have this secredt Karaoke voice he hides that
he never uses back home. He is so much more serious in a Karaoke place
and also better . Sam ended off hour Karaoke trial with a screaming song. So loud I bet the other rooms probably heard him over their own music .
So after taxes, it was 7.50, which was ok. I think it would be more
worth it to come several times in a day so that we can get multiple
drinks.
w00t Sam. When are you going to become a singing and DJ star. Hehe.

| May 21st 2005
Today is a wonderful day! It is in a sense the official date on which
Christine and I started going out together. The year we first started
was 2001, when I was still in high school. Wow, 4 YEARS! Thank you
Christine!!!!!!!!!! I hope you recieve your package soon!
On a different note though, today was also Lucie's birthday. We had a
dinner party for her. We went for chinese food. The foods wasn't that
great, but none the less, very filling. We had 14 people go the dinner.
This is a huge amount of people, it was fun too. A lot of people didn't
know what they were ordering. I think the best selection for the dish
was the roast duck, that was the best.
We also went for laser tag. Devin (my roomate) came with his girlfriend
to laser tag. Which was nice. The funniest thing here was that Roger (
a good friend of mine from school) bought all black clothing on the
same day to be less visible during the game. I on the other hand, wore
complete white. Why white? Well because they use Ultra Violet lets (UV
lights) inside the game room, white reflects a lot of the light and
makes my glow bright blue! Haha, so basically I was a moving target.
People would see a blue thing running around.
Devin, Roger and I were always saying that we were the best, so of
course, we thought that each of us was going to be #1 on the score
list. So the first game was a free for all game where you just shoot
anything that moves. I got 660 points at the end and was #2 on the
score list. Roger, hehe, got 662 points and was #1. It was really
really close, basically i think I got killed one more time than he did.
So we were the top for the first game.
The second game was even more funny. During the break between the first
and second game, I asked Devin to hold my game card (this game card
holds your character information for each game) while I was playing
some arcades. So when I was done, he gave me my tag back, or so I
thought. When the second game completed, I say my name to be #5 on the
score list, i thought I did better than that. Devin had #3 on the list,
and I thought that it made more sense. When devin was given his scored
sheet, he started laughing really hard and so I asked him why. Devin
told me that he switched his own character game care with my game card.
So basically, the score for Devin was actually my score and My score
was Devin's score. This was really really funny. I think it was clever
and it really really made the entire game fun.
After laser tag, we wen to play board games. We played Cranium and
Stare. These are awesome board games and are the best for any party.
Anyway, Stare is a very very challenging game. You should check out how
it is played here: http://www.boardgamegeek.com/game/2855
. This game stuck on us even after we left Lucie's place. In actual
fact, Steve got pulled over while driving us home because we made a
U-turn on a no U-turn. I guess we all sucked at Stare if we couldn't
see the no U-turn sign. Too bad for Steve.

| What not to do on Mother's Day: Play Poker
Why? If you worry that your mother will call while you play, she will .
Now to the fishing trip that happened almost 2 weeks ago, but was so enjoyable, I couldn't help but share .
I had been planning for the fishing trip a month before, so I could
find some nice lakes in the Vancouver area that was relatively close
and had some fish in them. Ody is an expert fisherman and helepd me
out. For those of you who hasn't seen Ody since graduation, his hair is
sooo long, it is longer than Kelvin's hair .
We went to to Rolley Lake, a Lake I have been to several times when I
was still a little crazy ape/monkey. Kelvin and I were driving
Christine, Angela, Jonathan, Ody, Brian Li and Angus.
I prepared a bunch of food the previous night and went grocery shopping
with Jon and Ody the day before for BBQ supplies. Vegetables, Meat Meat
and more Meat. Did I mention Meat? Anyway, we had a fun time burning
out food so that it was all black, hehe, MMMM... cancerous food. We
made so many Shish-kabob like things, with many varieties from all meat
to all vegetables and to ones that we just threw out at the end because
briand and Ody didn't want to eat them .
This was followed with frisbee throwing and soccer ball kicking. For
some reason, we liked to pick on Angus by kicking the ball into the
woods and into some disgusting water . But Angus showed us his 1337 frisbee throwing skill. A few even hit some people's cars.
After lunch and a little recreation, we got all the fishing gear
together and starting looking for a pier or little dock where we could
sit and fish. So we started hiking with a map of the lake. We walked,
and walked, and walked..... and walked and walked...... and
walked...... . It just so happened, the government "stole" the piers and my child hood memories of fishing. All the piers were gone.
We eventually found a very muddy and disgusting fishing spot. I feel bad for Angela, she accidently stepped in a lot of mud. Sorry .
Anyway, Kelvin suggested that I go see if there was a better spot for
fishing, rather than that one, and it turns out, there was a much nicer
open area for fishing. Probably the only good place for fishing. We
moved all out gear there and basically set camp there.
To be honest, we SUCK at fishing. I was trying to get the hang of it
again so I could teach the other people, Kelvin seemed to be good at
it. Jon was skipping stones. I think he skipped one stone maybe like 8
times. Crazy . And guess what, becuase it was sooooooo hot during the day, the fish didn't come out. sigh, we didn't catch anything.
WAIT!! Yes we did catch something. Other than sea weed, rocks, tree
branhes, wood and the occasional leather boot, we did catch one fish.
It was 6pm, and we were starting to pack up after a very dissapointing
day. So I said that I would cast the bait one more time so we can pack
up and wait for a miracle. When were going to pack the last rod (the
one that had been casted out), I held it, and if felt like something
was on the line. I reeled it in slowly, and VOILA! I had a fish ! BUT it was maybe around 10-15cm in length . Useless, too small. Sigh, but hey, we got a fish. We dumped the fish back in. Sigh.
Oh wait, hehe, Kelvin did manage to lose soem of my fishing equipment
right at the end. It was really funny. He caught a tree, seriously.
I will put the pictures up tonight.
After that, we went to Guu to eat. It was nice and fun to try new
things. Thanks to everyone for making this such a fun day. Even though
we came out with no fish. Next time, we are so finding another lake to
fish at .

| SAM WONG is gone!!
NOOO, sam has left Ottawa and soon my brother. Now I won't have anyone
here to speak cantonese with anymore. He left me all his stuff too . It kinda sucks, when I come back from Vancouver, I see Sam for a quarter of a day and then he leaves . I hope sam has a great trip and stay in Vancouver for 5 days and then in HK for a long time.
Thanks to so many people (especially Christine, Jon Tow, Angus, Kelvin,
Brian and Ody for having such a fun fishing trip). I wish I caught
something that was atleast braggable .
Anyway, back to work. More on the trip back to Vancouver.

| Today is the final day that I will step foot in IBM Rational in Ottawa .
For those of you who don't know, I have been working as a co-op student
at IBM for the past 8 months and have honestly enjoyed every single day
there , not because it is IBM, but because the people here are just so wonderful .
They are all children at heart and always have a smile on their face.
My managers too (I have two) act like teenagers eventhough they are in
their 40s or 50s .
It is funny. I gave my co-workers toy lightsabers, because of the
upcoming movie. And they absolutely loved them. The managers found out
that they didn't come with batteries, so one of them (in the middle of
the day) ran out and went to buy batteries for all their lighsabers .
How fun is that. After that, they just couldn't stop playing. You would
hear them coming down the hall with them on, making the sounds. They
were like children again . I am going to miss that so much.
Steve, my fellow co-op friend also from Carleton worked with me for the
same time. He isn't here today because he left this morning for New
York . But did he make a different when I was here. There was no dull
moment.
And btw, my co-worker that works right beside me has the funniest name
I have ever heard from a real person I have met. His name is Mahboob . I
will take a picture of it, but man, that is the best name ever !!
In the next co-op term, I will be continuing to work in IBM, but in a
different building and different team. I had requested a transfer
because then I could get different types of experience. This choice is
better for my career, but it comes with a price. The price is that I
will be uncertain to how happy I will be in the new team. Hopefully,
the smiles keep coming, and everyday is a fun day. Everyday, I wake up,
the first thing I usually think of is what funny things will happen
today at work, and what will put the smiles on people's faces today. I
guess one important tip that for all of you here is that you should
always find a way to make your workplace fun. If you can't be happy in
your job, don't take it. You will be depressed if nothing can make you
happy.
